Distant Shore iPhone Entertainment App Review
Entertainment Apps are some of my favorite ones to test and use in my personal life. When I received the review request for Distant Shore I went to the App Store to see more about this app. After reading the description I was immediately intrigued but was alittle confused to as if this is a entertainment App or social networking game app but none the less I was ready to download it and sync it to my 3G.

After syncing I started the app to notice the sounds and scenes of the beach, In the upper left corner tap the little “i” to see options, News, Help and About features. In the lower left corner is a bag icon tap this is to see messages you have picked up along the beach and bottles you have earned to create new messages to launch in to the Ocean. In order to find message that others have thrown in the ocean and have washed up on your beach you will need to walk around on the beach by tapping your finger in the direction you want to walk looking for messages in bottles and collecting Sea Shells after you have collected 5 you get a bottle to create a new message and launch it in the sea to read messages tap on one of the letter in your bag you wish to read, to compose new messages tap on a bottle and the keyboard will popup type in what you want and tap Launch.

Although I really enjoy this so called entertainment app I consider a more of a social networking game I wasn’t impressed graphics they where just ok for my. The whole concept behind this app is cool it has given me some ideas for a business app I have been thinking of developing. The idea of typing a message and throwing it in the ocean to wash up on another person using this app’s beach whom you may or may not know is brilliant, Thumbs Up on this app with the add game like features of walking around picking up messages and collecting shells make it more interesting.

At $0.99 this is well worth buying, among entertainment app this is one to get. I predict this app will be in the top 50 if not 100 paid apps for along time to come and I’m looking forward to updates & others apps this developer may releases in the future.

Geisha

Geisha iPhone Entertainment App Review
Using the Geisha app can be a good two minute break from the stress of everyday life. You launch the app, watch the paper doors slide open and view a kimono clad geisha. Touch the screen and she will begin doing a graceful dance to traditional music. Move your finger around the screen to change the view to above, left or right to get a good look at the entire room. Pinch the screen to close the doors again and put an end to the performance.

The app also features a clock on the screen with the geisha, which works to fulfill two purposes. First of all, you know what time it is so you don’t waste too much of it watching the performance and secondly you can program the app to launch at a certain interval, such as every hour, or at an exact time – say in the middle of a stressful meeting at work. There are a couple other changes you can make. You can choose from three different Kimono colors and use a setting that makes it so the dancer starts or stops when you clap your hands in front of the iPhone’s microphone.
Geisha iPhone App
This app makes for an interesting diversion and people will definitely ask about it. The graphics are also fairly detailed especially the intricate details of the room. I just wish the phone’s memory could keep up with the dancer a little bit better. At times it seems more like she’s doing the robot than an ancient sensual dance.

Magicard

Magicard Entertainment App Reviewed Magicard iPhone App

Magicard iPhone Entertainment App Review
This app is meant for all the aspiring magicians out there. It was created to supplement the good old “I can guess your card” trick with a matching image on the iPhone. The user is supposed to perform the trick with a regular deck of cards and then tap his or her iPhone for the big reveal at the end. The phone will actually show an image of the card the audience member picked, giving the trick some technological flair.

There are several options available for the user by going into the iPhone’s setting menu. You can choose the suit and value for the card, whether it appears with a touch or with a double click and how quick the animation moves from blank screen or background to the card’s image.
Magicard iPhone App
The app has a tutorial video that explains how to do the trick which you can reach from the home screen. However, it wasn’t very in depth at explaining how to make the trick entertaining for the audience. In fact, it wasn’t even written in understandable English, but I could follow along thanks to the graphics and eventually the video images, which were pretty good.

I was able to duplicate the trick shown in the video tutorial without difficulty, but the group I showed it to did not find it to be particularly good. The fact that the app only demonstrates one trick is more than a little disappointing. I would instead read a book on magic and then add the app into the mix for any number of tricks that require a card reveal at the end.

Pocket God

Pocket Gods iPhone Entertainment App Review
I had mixed impressions of Pocket Gods at first because it isn’t a game it’s a entertainment app but has the fell of playing a game. The graphics are just ok nothing to write home about while the audio isn’t bad, some sort of tropical Island Music. In this app you are playing God to primitive islanders, you rule and can create new life and take life away just as quickly.

Once you start the app click on the question mark in the upper right corner this is basic instructions on what to do. Now I’m sure you have noticed that there is only one islander to add more up to six at time click the plus sign in the upper left corner and islander will start dropping down on to your island. After you add islanders you can begin to rule, you can feed the coconuts, you can flicking them in to the water to drown or flick them in to the volcano which gets closer to exploding each time you get one in and on the third islander in the volcano bursts shooting hot lava on your islanders back on the island, you can pick them up and drop them, poke them, drop the rock on them, hit them with lightning, feed them to the shark everything and vengeful god would do.
Pocket Gods iPhone App
Along with being mean to my islanders I can change day to dusk and than night which will cause my islanders to sleep i also can make it a clear sky or cloudy with lightning, by shaking my iphone it causes a earth quake and by tilting side to side the islanders will slide in that direction and in to the water. I’ve pretty much described how the app works and the features of Pocket God for the iPhone, Now you can become the Powerful God Of The Island.

Even though my at first I wasn’t sure about Pocket Gods in the past 4 days while testing for this review I have grown fond of this app all thought there is no real purpose to what you do in this app it is fun and addicting. Despite the lack of quality graphics I still found it to be a joy, I played it for several hours over the four days I tested it for the review and have 9 times since for entertainment and to show friend and get there insight on this app. Overall I would recommend this app for $0.99 to everyone, and I shared it with 5 of my friends and all but one was on board with my thoughts.

Nunchaku

Nunchaku iPhone Game App Review
I don’t know about you, but my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was always Michelangelo. Finally, with this app I can live out my dream of swinging the nunchucks just like my pink-masked hero. This game allows you to use a virtual pair of nunchucks complete with sound effects. You can swing them, click the chains together and finally, strike.

This app made me laugh with its hilarious sound effects. When you first get started all you can do is make the chains clink together meekly. However, once you get into the swing of things, figuratively, by snapping the phone forward, you hear not only the sound of the nunchucks whirling quickly but also the sound of “you” hollering and your enemies getting beat up.

Nunchaku iPhone App
Okay, so this app will never be a substitute for real life nunchucks. The control is very awkward since it’s not the easiest thing to spin a rectangular object while holding it very awkwardly in one hand. However it is good for when you need to make a strong point during a business meeting or tell potential assailants that hey, you mean business.

There are no options or menu items to speak of. Just turn on the iPhone, launch the app and start swinging. You will have to physically exit to app by pushing the iPhone’s home button to get off of the nunchucks screen. Unlike real nunchucks, these are safe for travel. You can take them in your carry on and still be meeting FAA guidelines.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Peanut Butter Jelly Time App Review                        Peanut Butter Jelly Time iPhone App Reviews

No matter how bad of a day you’ve had, this app will surely put a smile on your face. It has an incredibly pixilated banana with arms, legs, eyes and a winning grin getting down with his bad self, kicking his feet and moving his arms up and down. He’s doing something similar to what my friends and I used to call the “idiot dance,” which we attributed to people at clubs that had absolutely no rhythm.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time iPhone App

When I first launched the app it didn’t seem to do much else, just the dancing fruit alone, but then the song started in when I touched the screen: “It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time” by my favorite unknown band, the Buckwheat Boys. I also noticed that the song’s title is at the bottom of my iPhone’s screen, though it pretty much covered up by the feet of the banana man. You can restart the song by touching the screen again or by shaking the phone to make some mad beats. No matter what you do, the dancing never changes.

I’d have to say I’m glad this app is free, but my boyfriend absolutely loved it. In fact he already had “It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time” as one of his ringtones so this was just the icing on the cake. It’s sure to be a hit at parties and on college campuses, and I’ll probably launch it every once in a while when I’m having a bad day or on the phone with an annoying telemarketer.

Pull My Finger

Pull My Finger Entertainment App Review                        Pull My Finger iPhone App Reviews

Pull My Finger iPhone Entertainment App
Oh, where would we be without such wonderful apps as Pull My Finger? We would never know what the farts of Bigfoot or Igor the lab assistant sound like. Luckily, this app has arrived to satisfy our curiosity.

In addition to Bigfoot and Igor, there are 16 more fart types that you can choose from, including a business man and an opera singer. Just touch the image to get the persona you like, then touch the screen anywhere (though it’s most fun to pretend to really pull the finger) and you’ll get a fart noise and your phone will vibrate at the same time.
Pull My Finger iPhone App

Can’t wait to get to the next farter? Don’t worry. Just touch the fingers pointing left and right at the bottom of the screen to go forward or backward. Push the down finger to get back to the home screen. If you want to hear all the farts at once, in some kind of symphony of flatulence, choose chorus. It’s sure to be a hit at any frat party. Just be aware, the chorus doesn’t stop on its own. It will continue to play until you turn it off, even if your phone goes into standby mode.

I actually liked this app more than I thought I would. The cartoonish pictures are pretty darn funny and the fart noises are at least somewhat interesting in their variety. Too bad you can’t activate the app remotely and stick your iPhone under someone’s chair during a boring business meeting.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds App Review                        Backgrounds Entertainment iPhone App

Backgrounds iPhone App
This app is sweet, simple and to the point. It is a large selection of backgrounds that you can upload to your phone. All you have to do to get it to work is launch the app and click on “popular,” “recent” or “category.” Popular and recent are pretty self explanatory, giving you lists of the most uploaded or newest images. Category brings you to of backgrounds sorted into groups such as funny, patterns and nature.

What I like about this app is that when you sort through the different backgrounds, you are looking at the actual pictures, not some obscure names like “purity” or “blue boxes” that could describe any number of things. I also like how there are some really clever backgrounds that are specific to the iPhone, such as one that implores “don’t leave fingerprints.”
Backgrounds Entertainment iPhone App

Some people may use this app and then get frustrated because their backgrounds don’t change. That’s because once you pick your background, by touching the image and then pushing save in the top right corner, you still have to go to your settings icon and choose to switch to the image. This is actually a good thing if you decide you like more than one option, since all will be there when you want to switch things up.

All in all this is a fun app. Some of the wallpaper choices are a little strange, such as a picture of a bed or floating Albert Einstein heads, but what better way is there to express your individuality? My boyfriend likes the pictures of a furry brown monster riding a bike.

Freshwater Aquarium

Fresh Water Aquarium iPhone App Review               Fresh Water Aquarium iPhone App
Fresh Water Aquarium Mobile iPhone App
This app is just what the name implies: a simulated freshwater aquarium on your iPhone screen. You start off with about ten fish and you can watch them individually by choosing the watch button at the bottom. This will put a small arrow above the head of the fish that you’re following.

Additionally, you can feed your fish by touching the food button and then putting your finger anywhere on the screen. One pellet will appear with each touch, and you seem to have an unlimited amount of fish flakes. The fish will either eat or ignore the food at their leisure. If they eat the food, they grow, though not especially noticeably unless they eat a ton.
Fresh Water Aquarium App Reviewed

One part of the game that could get a little interesting is the fact that you can sell your fish for pieces of gold and use that gold to buy fish of different varieties. Touch the info button to find out how much each fish is worth and then decide if you’d prefer the cash. The value is assessed by fish size and type, so feed, feed, feed.

Once you’ve done your selling, you can touch the shop button to see what fish are available to buy. They range from a Neon Tetra at 300 pieces of gold to a Blackspot Barb at 900. Some may enjoy seeing how they can fill their tank at the best price or just how crowded they can make it. You can’t simply ditch your fish and take the money. Once you’re down to one fish, you can’t sell.

If you like fish, you may like this game. Otherwise, you’ll get bored pretty quickly. The realistic graphics are nice, but there just is not much to it.
